About Us:

The Winthrop Education Corporation (WEC)  is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1995 to raise and provide funds for needs of the Winthrop school system which are not provided by local and state funding.

WEC promotes, supports, and sponsors educational, cultural, literary, civic, health,  vocational, co-curricular and social programs, activities, and events for residents and students of all ages in the Winthrop Region.  All requests for school funding are processed through the school administration.

We are governed by a volunteer nine to fifteen member board of directors of the Winthrop Board of Education and one member of the Winthrop school administration.  The board meets regularly to oversee financial contributions, to discuss program needs, and to consider funding requests while organizing fundraisers is support of the Winthrop school system.
