Barbara Walsh was hired part-time as the Chamber's first executive director in April 2015. She has added a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the Chamber and has increased membership by 30 percent over the past two years. Barbara is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and the author of August Gale: A Father and Daughter's Journey into the Storm; Sammy in the Sky, and Rhoda's Rescue. She is working on the movie script for August Gale, along with writing more adult and children's books. She also teaches writing at University of Southern Maine. She is privileged to be the mother of Emma and Nora Conrad. When she's not writing, Barbara can be found photographing Maine's beauty, walking Jack (the quirky and loyal hound), kayaking local lakes, or swimming long distance, when the ice finally melts and the waters of Maranacook warm.
